Religion = Exploitation

I have heard this theory that religion, and to wanting to know god is a psychological need we have built in us. And this explains why religions vary and usually represent a human like paternal/maternal figure with rules etc, But I believe that the original pure intent of religions’ creations have gone horribly awry. Now religion lets you to do bad, and then confess to priests. But the priests, believing they are a spokespeople for god, allows them to do bad. Now lets go halfway around the world. The Muslims believe in the promise of a slew of virgins awaiting them in heaven. This is enough to encourage kids to kill and their family to be celebrated because of their martyr child. What gives? What gives is that religion is exploitive. It is acceptable brainwashing and takes advantage.
What about this concept — We did bad in a prior life, and this world is where we were sent? We have somewhere on average of 70 years here, working to make a living, struggling to survive. And then we die. To add frustration to it all, it is a world full of all things unfair — children with cancer. Innocent people who have no quality of life, just because they were born in third world countries? Bad people who live long prosperous lives. Britney Spears’ fame. Leona Helmsley.
What about the thought that when we die, everything dies with us? That there is nothing left, and no matter how much you did, or accomplished, you are forgotten within a matter of months. Doesn’t this suck- The concept that nothing matters and we’re not going anywhere when we die? That when we die, we just die. Ashes to ashes..
That’s not a fun concept. The idea of a heaven full of virgins is much more appealing!….In fact, “Hey virgins wait for me”!! – I know how to get there quickly. I will just bring my Teddy Bear ”Mohammed” to the mosque.
So c’mon Mohammed, we’ve got things to do. I have some virgins waiting for me! Face me in the direction of Mecca. Maybe there is meaning to life after all. If not, at least I died trying… My parents will be so proud.
